Building Projects Starts With Building Relationships

Smith Constructors was established in 1959 by J. L. “Chicken” Smith in Columbia, TN, as a humble trucking company. Through dedication, honesty, and hard work, Smith Constructors has evolved over the years to specialize in grading, utilities, rock crushing, site development, paving, emergency response, and maintaining a robust trucking fleet that remains a vital part of the business.

The success and day-to-day operations of Smith Constructors are driven by our core values:

Safety First – Safety is our first and foremost core value, where we prioritize the well-being of our employees — our company’s most valuable assets. Ensuring that every employee returns home to their families and loved ones unharmed is our highest concern.

Teamwork makes the dream work – Embracing the idea that we can’t possibly do it alone. The goal is bigger than one person and we must come together, as a team, to achieve the goals set before us.

Accountability breeds responsibility – This embodies the idea of taking full responsibility for everything we do, on an individual level. Recognizing that successes and failures are our own, learning from our mistakes, understanding the consequences of our decisions, and actively leading.

Honesty is the best policy – We strongly believe in honesty and doing what is right. Smith Constructors owes its ongoing success to the foundation of good, honest, and hard work. Upholding our commitments and honoring our words are principles we consistently strive to uphold.
